Valley Arts presents Kate Dimbleby and Keith Warmington

Ubley Parish Hall
7th October
7.30pm

A Chew Valley Premiere

“Part concert, part confessional. A project that is anything but conventional” **** The Times

If you had a song, what would it be?

A brand new musical pairing of acclaimed singer-songwriter Kate Dimbleby, the singing daughter of Britain’s great broadcasting family of voices and the much loved Keith Warmington on harmonica/guitar and vocals. Songs about life, loss and a lot of laughter born out of friendship and finding common ground. This is a show that will make you laugh, cry and have you humming out the door.

The self-penned songs by both artists are a revelation. Kate’s use of the loop pedal is as unusual as the lyrics of her songs. Keith Warmington is something of a virtuoso on the harmonica with a laid back attitude that advertises his years of experience as he strums the guitar and sings us into a place we know, familiar even on first hearing.…

Is that all there is? : A show about death

Live at Zedel
30th November
9.15pm

A special evening of music and conversation about death, loss and saying the wrong thing.

Singer Kate Dimbleby & Naadia Sheriff (piano) in conversation with actress Rebecca Peyton and award-winning writer Cathy Rentzenbrink.
Kate, Cathy and Becca are all solo artists – telling personal stories through music, theatre and books. But they share a common interest. For one night only, they join together to sing, talk and laugh their way through the darkness.
Becca says she doesn’t want to ruin Cathy’s recovery from her bereavement, Cathy says she has never met anyone closer to death than herself till she met Becca and Kate is wondering what she can bring to the party (apart from some great songs and the wonderful pianist Naadia Sheriff)…
As the evening progresses they reach across the darkened spaces between us all tickling the scary bits of life until they laugh and we laugh too.…

FINDING YOUR VOICE : A WOMAN’S WORK at Port Eliot Festival 29th August

I did a great session for Port Eliot Festival on Saturday 29th August. Improvised, spontaneous with a crowd aged 6-75 years old.

THIS IS PART OF MY NEXT STAGE FOR SONGBIRDS – taking the project into smaller communities, village halls, churches to hear your voices and sing with you. Here is a map of where I am headed in 2017-2018. If you would like your community added to the map, just email kate@katedimbleby.com

Kate, alone on stage with a vocal looper, combines powerful, soulful acapella original songs with stories of singing with Bobby McFerrin, stepping out of Peggy Lee’s shadow and listening to find the song in everyone.

“Stunning vocal virtuosity. An artist absolutely at the top of her game.” Tom Robinson, BBC 6Music
